Outdoor Play Area

Outside play area imageThe original soft play area outside had been laid 12 years ago when the Nursery first opened and so was becoming very worn and 'tacky' looking.

We have been thinking for a while now about how we could smarten it up.

Along came Nottinghamshire County Council with news that we could apply for a grant for improvements to the Nursery which would be to the benefit of the children.

Most of you have probably seen the result of our grant which has met most of the cost of the work. We feel that we and the children have been very fortunate with this. They will get hours of enjoyment and learning from their use of the climbing frame.

Safer Food, Better Business

Newark and Sherwood District Council have for several years operated this scheme in relation to food hygiene practices, structure and cleaning and management procedures. We have recently been inspected in relation to this and have been awarded the highest possible rating - 5 Stars / Excellent – in all areas.

We are incredibly proud of this achievement as it shows just how high our commitment is to this important aspect of the Nursery.

The Den

Last year we started a holiday club at the Nursery, called The Den, which operates during all school holidays for children aged 5-11 years. The Den is open from 7.45am to 5.45pm each day and can cater for up to 16 children at any time.

We provide a range of activities for everyone, based on a theme. ‘This week’s theme’ will be displayed each week so the children will know what is on offer. We also organise various outings to interesting places. So far visits have included Sneinton Mill, Rufford Park, and Sherwood Forest Country.
